Mylah Mae Rider

After the initial success of her previous collection, unspoken, Baataa' 'ohook'i, or Mylah Mae Rider turned her attention to the concept of witnessing. beautiful witness was the product of Montana poetry studies and furthering her interest in the idea that everyone is a "witness" to their own life and the lives of others, while simultaneously participating in it and giving it new forms of meaning.

About the Author

Baataa' 'ohook'i, or Mylah Mae Rider, attends high school in North Montana near the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation, home of the Aaniiih and Nakoda tribes. Her debut collection was unspoken, published by PBE Press in 2021. She was also featured in two anthologies of student poetry including One Hundred Things I Took the Wrong Way (2021) and In Our Time of Knowing (2022). She was also the recipient of the North Montana Poet Award at HHS in 2021.
